Estimating Heat Requirement for Flowering in Peach Germplasm
نویسندگان
چکیده
Bloom date (BD) in peach is determined by the dynamic relationship between chilling (CR) and heat requirement (HR) fulfilment during dormancy. Understanding these thermal requirements would enable breeders to adapt new cultivars variable climates. Among three traits, HR least investigated, with genetic variability germplasm interaction HR, CR BD still mostly unknown. Therefore, we investigated of 136 over 8 growing seasons (2014–2021) calculating degree hours (GDH) from moment their was satisfied until full bloom. The ranged 1362 10,348 GDH across years cultivars, cultivar eight-year having best linear unbiased prediction (BLUP) values 4808 7721 GDH. In addition, a high positive correlation CR, negative seasonal effect on were observed. Moreover, simulating different threshold base temperatures (Tb) revealed trends accumulation, suggesting that genotype-specific Tb should be allow precise discrimination this requirement. Peach showed variation could used breeding for bloom delay environments climate change.

Are Flowering Plants Taboo in Peach Orchards?
It is generally recommended that broadleaf plants in and around peach orchards must be controlled to minimize damage from stink bugs (Pentatomidae) and plant bugs (Lygus spp.). In research orchards located in West Virginia, USA, I have been growing peach trees as a monoculture or interplanted with apple, with and without the presence of broadleaf flowering plants. The flowering plants were used...
متن کاملWhole-Genome Analysis of Diversity and SNP-Major Gene Association in Peach Germplasm
Peach was domesticated in China more than four millennia ago and from there it spread world-wide. Since the middle of the last century, peach breeding programs have been very dynamic generating hundreds of new commercial varieties, however, in most cases such varieties derive from a limited collection of parental lines (founders). This is one reason for the observed low levels of variability of...
متن کاملIs early morning flowering an effective trait to minimize heat stress damage during flowering in rice?
Higher spikelet sterility due to heat stress exposure during flowering in rice is becoming a major threat for sustaining productivity in tropical and sub-tropical regions. Therefore, exploiting and incorporating early morning flowering (EMF) trait into ongoing breeding pipelines could be an effective strategy to minimize the damage. In this study, we have focused on quantifying the time of day ...
متن کاملStudy on relationship between pollen exine ornamentation pattern and germplasm evolution in flowering crabapple
Pollen ornamentation patterns are important in the study of plant genetic evolution and systematic taxonomy. However, they are normally difficult to quantify. Based on observations of pollen exine ornamentation characteristics of 128 flowering crabapple germplasms (44 natural species and 84 varieties), three qualitative variables with binary properties (Xi: regularity of pollen exine ornamentat...
متن کاملFlowering Stage Resistance to Bacterial Fruit Blotch in the Watermelon Germplasm Collection
Cucurbit bacterial fruit blotch caused by Acidovorax avenae subsp. citrulli is a significant threat to watermelon [Citrullus lanatus (Thunb.) Matsum. and Nakai] production worldwide. In the United States, seedless cultivars are primarily used in watermelon production, which now relies largely on transplant production in greenhouses to ensure a high germination rate. Unfortunately, the warm and ...
